The Science and Engineering (S&E) PALACE Acquire (PAQ) Program offers unparalleled opportunities for recent STEM graduates to join Team Eglin and develop their technical skillsets in arming our nation’s warfighter. The Program offers a structured 3-year development program for recent Bachelor of Science (BS) graduates or a 2-year program for recent Master of Science (MS) graduates of accredited STEM programs as an Air Force Civilian Servant.
In addition to federal employment benefits, the PAQ Program includes:
- A full 12 months of full-time graduate school including paid tuition and books while receiving full salary and benefits (2nd year of 3-year program)
- Up to 75% salary bonus, payable 25% per year of the program
- Up to $30,000 student loan repayment for qualifying federally-insured loans
- Relocation expenses paid for your first move to the Eglin AFB area
- STEM-specific special pay scales above standard federal salaries (For Electrical Engineers, refer to special table https://apps.opm.gov/SpecialRates/2020/Table042201012020.aspx)
- Annual promotions to GS-09/GS-11/GS-12 during the program’s duration
- Outplacement from the program as a journeyman-level federal employee
Benefits vary slightly for the 2-year program, and continuing service agreements with the Air Force for up to 3 years may be required for certain benefits.
To qualify, you must:
- Be a U.S. citizen and be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance
- Have completed a Electrical Engineering degree or comparable program that includes integral and differential calculus (i.e. Computer Engineering, Software Engineering)
- Have a cumulative GPA of 2.95 or above

Electrical Engineers are typically assigned one or more of the following responsibilities:
- Performs selected tasks and phases of studies and projects that require application of basic theory and principles in the area of electrical engineering.
- Participates with senior personnel in conducting non-routine projects.
- Provides assistance to senior personnel in planning, monitoring, and conducting special studies, projects, and initiatives.
- Uses computer/computer software such as information management programs, computer aided design and drafting (CADD) programs, and project tracking programs to assist senior personnel in solving engineering problems and facilitate the work.
